Cockpit Systems:

Advanced functionality, programmed using engineering schematics with input from a whole range of Technical Advisors, this promises to be one of the most advanced analogue cockpits for Flight Simulator! Learn the importance of managing fuel, flying at the correct attitudes and speeds and most of all - checklists! With over 200 switches, push-buttons and dials you’ll find this aircraft challenging and incredibly rewarding to fly.

Pilot controls:

  • General features - Both Air France and British Airways cockpits feature instruments specific to each aircraft, such as Analogue/Digital clocks. Cockpit voice callouts are also spoken in French/British dependant on the aircraft chosen. These include V-speeds, height callouts, noise abatement and abnormal calls spoken by a First Officer and Engineering Officer. The registration plaque reads and displays the correct aircraft registration information, programmed to read both fleets and several additional liveries. The Cockpit can be loaded Cold & Dark, Live or as it was previously saved.
  • Primary Flight Instrumentation :-
  • All instruments tied to electrical and data feed systems (Air Data Computers/Inertial Navigation System)
  • Shockwave effect on Altitude and Vertical Speed Indicator as aircraft passes through Mach 1
  • 'Hunting' ADF needles and smooth DME readouts - watch them tick at Mach 2!
  • All instruments can be bugged manually or automatically via Concorde Takeoff Calculator
  • Integrated IVSI with TCAS II
Concorde Cockpit

  • Primary Engine Instrumentation :-
    • Realistic engine readouts in all flight regimes. The EGT thermostat on the Olympus 593 engine was placed in such a way that it resulted in very low temperature readings compared to a conventional jet engine, which has been modelled
    • Custom designed engine start routines, including DeBow starts! This is where the engine is held in a sub-idle condition during start to de-bow parts of the engine that could otherwise be overstressed due to excessive heating. You'll also note the EGT drop on initial engine start as a draft from the turning engine blows air over the EGT thermostat
  • Automatic Flight Control System - A total of 17 Autopilot modes, including :-

Concorde AFCS

  • Custom Autothrottle. Built using similar techniques to the real model which proves to be very stable on Approach. Concorde was known for it’s superb Autothrottle system
  • Custom designed pitch modes: Pitch Hold, IAS Hold, Mach Hold, Max Climb, Max Cruise
  • Custom Autoland (LAND2/LAND3) capable of landing in maximum crosswind conditions

  • Inertial Navigation System - True to life representation of the Delco Carousel IV-A system, designed by Marco Ravanello & Gianfranco Corrias. Available as a separate download available on the SimuFly website
    • Complete implementation of INS into Concorde systems, including INS failures
    • Concorde ADI, HSI and AFCS all dependant on INS data feeds
    • Integrated into the Concorde using a true to life Instrument Transfer System
  • Master Warning System :-
  • Audio Warning System, Master Warning System and individual warnings and indications within associated systems modelled
  • Master Warning System incorporates all Class 1 & Class 2 warnings, 37 in total
  • Each warning sound has been digitally recorded

Concorde Cockpit
  • Ice and Rain Protection :-
    • Icing detection is fully simulated
    • Pitot, Engine, Wing and Intake Anti-Ice systems modelled
    • Functional Windscreen wipers, both in 2D cockpit and VC with sound effects

Pedestal consoles:

Concorde Cockpit
  • General features - Two layouts for Air France and British Airways are modelled, details include :-
  • Functional Air Data Computers
  • Standby Nose/Visor controls
  • Autopilot Datum Controls
  • Features both ADF radios
  • HF radios with simulated radio noise when in use
  • Squawkbox 3 compatible Transponder
  • Audio panel complete with gauge volume control
  • Squawkbox 3 SELCAL unit; automatically displays forward pedestal requiring cancellation of the alerting system

  • Throttle's :-
  • Two electrical throttle control systems modelled
  • Throttle Master selection required for throttle use!
  • Engine limiters and rating controls
  • Functional Throttle Lever Angle bug and set-to click spots for easy control
  • Can be individually disconnected from Autothrottle system
  • Joystick Throttle Axis inhibit switch for correct TLA behavior

Flight Engineer Station:

The Flight Engineer station controls a number of systems on Concorde including :-

  • Fuel Management System - This was the heart and sole of Concorde. The best pilots on the fleet were those who had a sound working knowledge of all the facets of the Concorde Mass and Balance. Concorde was a performance aeroplane and to be flown at its optimum needed to be trimmed in both its lateral and longitudinal axis, influenced by the distribution of aircraft load and fuel. Those who can master the fuel system and develop an understanding of how Mass and Balance influenced the characteristics of this machine, will be able to push the aircraft to its limits, in all regimes of flight and gain further satisfaction from this simulation.
  • Complete Fuel Transfer and Jettison System modelled, including around 100 possible fuel transfer combinations
  • Using all of the eleven available fuel tanks in Flight Simulator to simulate Concorde's 13 fuel tanks
  • Realistic engine feed system
  • Functional Aft Trim system
  • Complete Trim Trans Auto Master System
  • Dynamic Mouse tooltips
  • Virtual Fuel Engineer Option
Concorde Fuel

  • Hydraulic Management - Three systems, two primary, coloured blue and green and one secondary system coloured yellow are modelled. Saving weight by using smaller pipes for the hydraulic system on Concorde meant that the system was pressurised to 4000 PSI, 1000 units greater than that of the conventional airliner.
  • Complete Hydraulic system modelled
  • Yellow residual pressure decreases over time during flight
  • Hydraulic pressure required for all flight control systems; elevons droop and rudder weather-vanes
Concorde Hydraulics

  • Electrical Control :-
  • AC Generating Systems and DC Distribution Systems both modelled
  • Ground Power
  • Ram Air Turbine
Concorde Electrics

  • Secondary Engine Instruments :-
  • Turbine Cooling Air Temperature, Fuel Temperature, Engine Oil Pressure, Engine Oil Temperature, Engine Oil Content and Engine P7
  • P7 tied into Takeoff Monitor
Concorde Electrics

  • Engineer Leg Panel :-
  • Authentic engine start system including functional engine De-Bow start system
  • INS Mode Selector Units
  • Exit door control panel
  • Intake Ramp & Spill door panel; Ramps and Spiil doors can be opened/closed manually
