Thank You. Your combined efforts have given me the most immersive, challenging and rewarding flight sim experience since I started this daft hobby 24 years ago. I've actually had your Concorde since the Koch version was first released, but I never really got into it sufficiently - I felt it was somehow 'unfinished' and the performance, even on an FX55-based machine, was pretty dismal. The new version has changed all of that.
I've battled my way through the tutorial, and managed to make it to KJFK, and today I planned and executed the return to a very pleasant CAT II approach and manual landing on 09L. I consider myself a fairly experienced flight sim user. I've always bought all the complex add-ons - PIC767, the LDS 767, RFP742, blah blah. I love absorbing all the manuals and following procedures to the letter. I'm an ex-RAF air movements officer and spent a very pleasant tour at Brize flying as a despatcher on TriStar 500s and have quite a bit of flight deck time. Despite all of that, this add-on was without a doubt the most difficult mountain to climb.
But when you get it right, it is far and away the mot satisfying experience of them all. Today I flew the infamous Carnasie climb from KJFK 31L. It was absolutely right on the numbers and the feeling of really flying such a complex jet was unsupassed.
It's hard to conceive of what you could do to improve the package. Sure, it'd be nice to see the missing bit's of the FEs panel included just for ther sake of procedural completeness. And I think fans of the ITVV DVD would appreciate it if you could have got Roger Bricknell to do the FE call outs!
Without being over-dramatic, and in a small way, Concorde still lives through your brilliant work. Thanks again for a great experience.
I got the SSTSIM product about two months ago and I am hooked. This has to be the most challenging and immersive add-on for MSFS for me and I have been playing since version 4!
The fully clickable, complex virtual cockpit, complete with working INS and TCAS, make this product really stand out from the competition. Professional takeoff data, a well written tutorial, and comprehensive documentation help make this the best Concorde rendition I have seen for any version of MSFS.
This rendition of Concorde is a most worthy successor to the Altitude/Koch Media product. I also own one other payware Concorde, and it can't compete. I just can't go back to it.
Besides the fully interactive VC, this one also has V-speed callouts, radio altimeter callouts, and many other immersive sounds, which rank 10 out of 10. The virtual cabin was also a nice touch.
Support from the SSTSIM team has been great, and I eagerly await the FSX version. As a senior in college studying aviation science, this product presents a greater challenge to me than any other plane in any flight simulator, IMHO, as well as the greatest payoff. The satisfaction of mastering the INS along with the fuel transfer adds to the complexity of operation, as well as the attention to detail required for successful flight. Great work!
For those that haven't seen this amazing bird, you really need to!! Even the VC snobs like myself ( where you refuse to fly planes without good Virtual Cockpits ) will love this plane. They modelled everything perfectly. The roar of the engines when you apply full thrust w/ afterburners at takeoff/climb. The wind noise when the visor goes up dramatically dies down. The thick smoke when you first kick in the afterburners on takeoff/supersonic climb is awesome looking. The fast, high-AOA (Angle of Attack) approaches are so fun to fly!
I've had people load up at airports and sit near the runway just to watch me land while on VATSIM. Did you know that this plane trimmed during cruise via fuel balancing? The Flight Engineer kept very busy during flights. You have the option of balancing the fuel yourself or letting the Virtual Flight Engineer do the work for you. I personally do it myself except for departure/arrival when I need to focus on flying by hand.
I am in no way affiliated with them, I'm just a very satisfied customer and I think they are just under-represented in the community.
This is definitely one of my top 5 planes. I'm very picky when it comes to my payware because I want high fidelity in the systems modelling. These guys nailed it on this one. For those that have ever flown the Ready for Pushback 747-200, you'll see that depth of systems modelling in this plane.
I really enjoy flying this, and will certainly be after an FSX version. I refuse to remove FS9 purely because I simply HAVE to fly this aircraft! Well done to everyone who is involved with creating this amazing addition to a great simulator.
Haven't had much time with it yet, but WOW! a procedure junkie's dream! I'm sure that I'll have lots of questions, in spite of the fact that I love manuals, print them, and read them cover to cover.
Great add-on!
It is very challenging, very exciting, I love everything about it because I so much enjoy flying Her Majesty Concorde and grateful for outstanding support provided by the team.
As a matter of fact, I fly only Concorde, while having Level-D and PMDG add-ons. Concorde is too great add-on and too much reminds me of the real bird to resist the pleasure and excitement of flying it. Especially knowing the level of support given by SSTSIM team.
I hope the team will continue to enhance the bird. Best team to the best aircraft ever produced!
Thank you SSTSIM for this great airliner and your outstanding support for it.
I just wanted to put on record my appreciation for SSTSIM's incredible support for this product. Reading through the threads, their almost immediate responses to countless questions are nothing short of amazing.
I have had a number of payware aircraft and scenery over the years and I can only say that I have never come across the level of knowledge and infinite patience that is so evident in their support.
I've never seen such excellent support, even amoung the very best of the payware providers. It allows people to buy the product with 100% confidence.
Thanks!
A few days ago I upgraded from Altitude Concorde and also got rid of my other payware Concorde model. I must say that you guys did a wonderful job on making this bird.
Although my videocard is about 4-5 years old...The plane still looks good. I'm so happy that i don't need to do the math for planning my flights. I felt like i was put behind concorde and the throttles were slammed forward to the stops. It's that good.
Just wanted to say, fantastic job on this aircraft. I've had the original Concorde since way back when. The advances in the systems, visuals, etc really do make this a completely new, and very well done package.
Thanks for all the hard work by the developers and the much too little recognized beta testers.
Guess I'm too late with my friendly advise that you should definately not purchase this aircraft, unless you are prepared to ground all your other aircraft addons. Cause this beast is the most addictive aircraft addon I've ever flown.
Thank you all at SSTSIM for the great Concorde experience, It's awsome!
Curse you Curse you all!!! I'm now addicted to flying your concorde and loving every minute of it.
Well done guys for creating such a truly fantastic product.
Echoing the others, Concorde is the most complex aircraft I've had to learn in flightsim yet.
The slower airliners tend to be a "set and forget" during cruise. You can hit the autos, go to bed, wake up and land.
I find on a typical LHR-JFK flight, I am almost halfway across the ocean before there is time to go flirt with my flight attendant. Even then, you only have a few minutes in that break before you have to start planning for your descent.
To me, that is what makes her so rewarding. You have a lot of work to do when flying this bird, but when you see those runway lights guiding you home after three hours of steady work, the satisfaction is second to none.
I've just completed my first flight with the aircraft in one piece, and I'm still in post-dramatic shock.
The realism is scary, I cannot believe how amazing this bird is!!! I really enjoyed every minute of it, thank you so much everyone!!
I made my first flight without any mistakes or problems with SSTSIM Concorde.
Flew from EGLL to BIKF. The CG was to far forward, and the VFE wasn't doing his job to fix it. I used tips I have received on this forum, as well as tutorial material, and was able to get the CG to 59% cruise value. Everything worked great. It is all starting to come together now.
Thanks for all your tips and help on this forum. It is one of the things that make this a truly great product.
I love flying this bird!
I have to second that, I've had the Concorde for a long while now. First the Altitude and then SSTSIM. I've been flying the LDS76 because I fly for BAV and cannot build hours on Concorde. But recently I flew the Concorde again and what a great experience it was.
I could have almost been there! I have worked for 5 years in the Brabzon hangers at Filton where Concorde was built. Many of the guys I work with started their time on the production line of Concorde. They have some great stories. The time when they were testing the fuel system and pumped to much aft sending the nose skyward and the tail down to earth! I cannot bring myself to visit AF at Filton as she should be in the sky's, and also because of the corrosion that is now showing (so much for her being the flag ship of BA still), but SSTSIM allows me to believe that she still flies.
Many thanks.
